Jamie Xx is everywhere at the moment and I for one have finally come to realise that everything this boy touches is turning to gold. Never much of a fan of The Xx, its is the remixes and new album 'We're New Here' which have turned my head.

 The standout songs obviously coming in the form of the summer anthem 'I'll take care of you' and 'Ur soul and mine' which fits neatly into the future dub genre. The song that has caught my attention the most however, is the remix of Adele's 'Rolling in the deep'. The original now pounded into our ears on a daily basis it is refreshing to hear a new take on it.

Jamie Xx will be testing out the Funktion 1 system at Mint Club with Bigger than Barry hosting on Sunday the 15th of May. With an eclectic amount of records produced this set will be A-grade.

T.v on the radio are back. Its been a few years since the glorious Dear Science and the Guardian have given readers the chance to listen to the new album on their website.

The album itself is much more relaxed and was recorded at super producer and band member Dave Sitek's house. You may remember him from his production of Foal's debut.

Taking inspiration from the Temptations and James Brown, It is no wonder Lee fields & The Expressions - Ladies features on the soundtrack for HBO's How to make it in America and manages to give it some funk. However he's not the only one when you have Aloe Blac's I need dollar hitting you IN THE FACE at the start of each episode.

Released in summer of 2009 on the album my world this song sounds like it should be coming from the depths of the speakers on Sunday sessions in Hifi (Leeds). Great rhythms that had me singing sweet soul music.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich came to my attention exactly a week ago. In this time I have bought his E.P "A million miles out", missed him supporting Noah and the Whale at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds as I turned up late and made everybody I know listen to him or force them to watch the shed session’s video. This man literally blew me away and it came as a surprise that he has not been included in any tips for 2011 seeing as Lily Allen 2 Jessie J seems to top them all.

Francis has just released a new E.P called "Pictures". The title track is heartwarming and a clear sign that more good things are to come from him. Sounding like a very British Jose Gonzalez, Benjamin will sit snugly between Johnny Flynn and Fionn Regan in my playlists. Sometimes it is  good to be English.

Pre Historic

What a way to start off than none other than a short but sweet insight into Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. The last time we embraced one man music machine Orlando, he was supporting a rather confused looking Darwin Deez crowd. However it took no less than two minutes for the crowd to look past his Indian Head dress and find themselves unable to stop moving their feet. He dropped baseline after baseline turning what could of been an average support slot into a full on disco.

With two backing dancers in tow and a girl with heart-warming vocal talents it was a surprise Darwin had let him support as he nearly upstaged him. Songs like Garden and Household Goods sound even better live than they do on record. It is sometimes a shock when one man and a few laptops can bring the house down but Orlando does it as good as anybody.

Much is to be expected of TEED in the near future but if you want to check him out be sure to go with an open mind and some limber legs.
